Tiebreakers are very confusing if there are more than two teams involved.

As of right now, there is a three-way tie for third place in Class 6A, Region 7, as Gadsden City, Huntsville and Oxford all have 4-2 region records.

If Oxford beats Pell City tonight, there will still be a three-way tie, with both of those teams and the winner of Gadsden City/Huntsville. But if Pell City prevails, it comes down to the winner of this game.

The Titans defeated Oxford but the Yellow Jackets beat Huntsville, thus creating the confusion. Basically, Gadsden City needs to win this game to undo any uncertainty.

“We’re not even thinking about tiebreakers,” Gadsden City coach Joe Billingsley said. “Bottom line is, we’ve got to win (today) to give ourselves a chance at the playoffs.”

Huntsville is coming off a huge win over previously undefeated Clay-Chalkville, which has been ranked No. 2 for the entire season.

“(Huntsville) has a strong running game and a really good defense,” Billingsley said. “They’ve got an offensive lineman (Grant Hill) committed to Alabama and a linebacker (Cameron Toney) committed to Auburn. We’ll have to play really well to win.”

Last week against Grissom, C.J. Moore completed 6-of-12 passes for 122 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed six times for 70 yards and two scores.

Gabe Ford ran for 64 yards on 10 carries, while LeGerald Malone had seven carries for 45 yards.

The Titans held Grissom to 246 yards of offense – 117 yards rushing and 129 yards passing.

Gadsden City had 424 yards total offense, with 289 of those yards coming on the ground.
