Area players recognized by AHSAA

Several local players were recognized in the Alabama Sports Writers Association’s Prep Football Spotlight of the Week for September 10.
Southside quarterback Gauge Nesmith (pictured above at left) completed 11 of 19 passes for 206 yards and four touchdowns in the Panthers’ 34-31 win over Oxford. Receiver Daimon Hitchcock had four receptions for 105 yards and two touchdowns, while linebacker Tytan Rich finished with 15 tackles and a sack.
Gadsden City running back C.J. Miller rushed for 153 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries in the Titans’ 44-17 loss to hoover.
Westbrook Christian running back Karmichael Cattling rushed for 152 yards and a touchdown on 28 carries in the Warriors’ 34-31 loss to Southeastern.
