Southside spikers defeat ranked teams

Southside went 2-1 at a quad match at Geraldine last Tuesday (Oct. 5). The Lady Panthers (41-11) beat Class 2A No. 4 Geraldine, 25-21, 25-21 and Ider, 25-8, 25-17 and lost to Arab, 14-25, 17-25. Southside, Kathyn Webb (pictured above) had 55 assists and 14 digs; Ziniah Hardy had 22 digs, eight kills and two blocks; Rachel Wilson had 18 kills, 14 digs and three blocks; Keelan Vice had 17 kills, eight blocks and five digs; Macey Herren had 17 kills, 10 digs and five aces; and Hannah Roberts had 17 digs.

Southside defeated Class 6A, Area 13 rival Pell City, 27-25-14, 26-24 last Monday (Oct. 4). For the Lady Panthers, Kathryn Webb had 34 assists, nine digs and two aces; Macey Herren had 18 digs and 12 kills; Hannah Rogers had 15 digs; Keelan Vice had 12 kills, eight digs and two blocks; and Rachel Wilson had 10 kills, five digs and two aces.

Southside swept a tri-match on September 29, defeating Fairview, 25-15, 25-15 and Class 5A, No. 2 Guntersville, 22-25, 25-22, 15-8. For the Lady Panthers, Kathryn Webb had 46 assists, eight blocks and four aces; Ziniah Hardy had 18 digs; Hannah Rogers had 17 digs; Rachel Wilson had 15 kills; Macey Herren had 15 kills and 10 digs; and Ella Knowlton had eight kills and four blocks.
