Glencoe girls, Ashville boys finish runner-up at Wildcat Fall Classic

The Glencoe girls and Ashville boys cross country teams finished in second place at the Wildcat Fall Classic 5K last Saturday (Oct. 16) at White Plains.
Three Glencoe girls finished in the top 10 in the Class 1A-3A division, led by Katie Giles’ first-place effort of 21:14.56. It was Giles (pictured above) third win out of six races this season. Sarah Ponder came in seventh place at 23:09.67, while Allie Jo Amos clocked in at 10th place at 23:23.33 10. Hokes Bluff’s Elizabeth Edge finished in fifth place with a time of 22:45.18.
Posting top 20 times for the Lady Yellow Jackets were Chloe Douglas in 13th place at 24:04.36, Jaxon Sizemore in 15th place at 24:17.39 and Keira Johnson in 18th place at 24:46.35.
The Ashville boys had three top 10 performers on the Class 4A-7A race with Joe Stevens in second place at 17:04.86, Wyatt Knight in fourth place at 17:40.09 and Ashton Vann in ninth place at 18:09.72.
The Ashville girls finished third overall in the 4A-7A event, with Taylor Knight in third place at 20:53.27, Kathleen McCarthy in ninth place at 22:05.13 and Emma Drinkard in 16th place at 23:31.40.
Three Hokes Bluff runners finished in the top 15 in the Class 1A-3A boys race – Hokes Bluff’s Bryer Morrison in seventh place at 18:49.33, Hokes Bluff’s Mason Miller in 11th place at 19:13.54 and Glencoe’s Conner Cothran in 15th place at 19:37.92.
