Patriots drop to fourth playoff seed with loss to Locust Fork

In a game that decided the third and fourth playoffs seeds in Class 2A, Region 6, West End fell to lost to Locust Fork, 26-16, on October 21.
The Patriots (6-3, 4-3) will travel to Aliceville on Nov. 4 in the first round of the Class 2A state playoffs. It will be the first postseason appearance West End since the 2016 season.
Locust Fork jumped out to a 14-0 lead before Evan Stancil’s 35-yard field goal pulled the Patriots within 14-3 with 1:06 left in the first quarter.
Kane Lawson 23-yard touchdown run at 8:47 of the second period made it 14-10 but the Hornets responded with Jalon Boatwright’s 49-yard rushing touchdown with 4:05 left before halftime.
Boatwright’s 15-yard touchdown run with 3:12 left in the game put West End in a 26-10 hole, and Rock Sainsbury 1-yard TD run with 1:47 left in the game was not enough to prevent the loss.
Sainsbury (pictured above) finished with 121 yards on 23 carries, while Lawson ran seven times for 45 yards.
Tyler Jones was 2 for 16 in passing for 58 yards.
Jaxon Hamby intercepted his fourth pass of the season.
West End concludes its regular season this Friday (Oct. 28) at home against.
