Southside headed back to JSU; Glencoe, Hokes Bluff, Etowah fall in subregionals

For the second year in a row and the third time in school history, the Southside High girls basketball team is headed to JSU.
The Lady Panthers (24-5) are 2-for-2 in the postseason following their 38-32 victory over Guntersville in the Class 5A subregional playoffs on Friday. Feb. 9. Southside will face Moody in the Northeast Regional Tournament semifinals on Thursday, Feb. 15 at 9 a.m. at Jacksonville State University.
Laylah Davis paced Southside with 14 points along with four rebounds. Madison Shaw finished with 11 points, three rebounds and three assists, while Grace Ann Rose contributed 10 points and seven boards. Jovi Marble forced four turnovers and tipped four passes, while Sarakate Yancey had five deflections and three rebounds.

Glencoe fell to Sylvania, 55-53, and Hokes Bluff lost to Plainview, 79-24, in the Class 3A subregional girls basketball playoffs on Feb. 9.

Etowah lost to Anniston 66-12, in the Class 4A subregional girls basketball playoffs on Feb. 9.
