Panthers loses to Guntersville, 35-13

Southside lost to Guntersville, 35-13, in the season-opener for both teams on Friday, Aug. 23 at Barney Hood Stadium.
The Class 5A No. 3 Wildcats built a 35-point lead before the Panthers scored two late touchdowns. Ethan Sarrett threw a 37-yard touchdown pass to Josh Peoples, while Koal Garrett scored from 81 yards out.
For Southside, Koal Garrett rushed for 206 yards on 17 carries. Ethan Sarratt was 11 for 16 in passing for 132 yards. Deegan Garrett caught three passes for 38 yards, while Josh Peoples had two receptions for 37 yards.
Southside visits Hokes Bluff this Thursday (Aug. 29) in the 73rd meeting of the two programs.
