Glencoe wins Silver Division at Donoho Invitational

The Glencoe High volleyball team went 3-2 at the Donoho Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 14 in Anniston. The Lady Yellow Jackets (10-9) defeated Walter Wellborn, 25-13, 25-13 and Ider, 25-10, 25-21 to win Silver Bracket Division of the tournament. In pool play, Glencoe lost to Donoho, 14-25, 25-21, 13-15; beat Altamont 25-10, 25-8; and lost to White Plains, 17-25, 13-25.
For the tournament for Glencoe, Evelyn Nowak (pictured above at right) had 51 kills, followed by Mia Talbot with 20, Ali Jo Amos with 16, Ashlyn Stone with six, Avery Barkley and Mille Chambless with five each and Kinlee Montgomery and Sadie Waldrop with three each. Montgomery dealt out 50 assists, while Barkley distributed 40. Barkley served up 10 aces, while Montgomery had four.
Amos and Chambless had eight and four blocks, respectively.
Hollis came up with 50 digs, followed by Gracyn Bunt with 28; Amos with 23; Payton Gray with 20; Stone and Nowak with 11 each; Barkley, Talbot and Waldrop with nine each; Chambless with six; and Montgomery with three.
