Glencoe fell to Mobile Christian in the final four game of the Alabama basketball championship on Tuesday, March 3. The final score was 55-42. With their win, Mobile Christian advances to Friday’s Class 3A state finals and will face Saint James at 12:15 p.m.

Glencoe (22-9), coached by Blake Badgett, was led by Kinlee Montgomery. She had 17 points, six rebounds, three assists, one blocked shot and was 4-for-4 at the foul line. She also sank three 3-pointers. Payton Gray added eight points.

Badgett knows his team fought hard on Tuesday.

“No matter what, there was going to be an ending this week,” said Badgett. “This group has fought. At one point we were down 20 and we got it down to 7. They have a lot of guts about them, and I know that will play into their lives outside of the game.”

Montgomery is taking the loss in stride and is planning next year’s do-over game.

“We know we can make it to the spot, so next season we’ll just keep fighting,” Montgomery said.

Despite the loss, Badgett is proud of what the team did and how they have represented Glencoe.

“Representing the community well is important to us because you can’t make it here without them,” Badgett said. “These girls have done something that will be remembered for a long time, and this is a family that will never go away. We’re all about representing our school and class and character.”
