The Friends of the Gadsden Public Library welcome author and national authority on the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, James W. Douglass.
Douglass will speak at 6 p.m. Aug. 1 in the Lena Martin Room of the library.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of President Kennedy’s murder in Dallas, Tex. Mr. Douglass will discuss his acclaimed book, “JFK and the Unspeakable: Why He Died and Why It Matters.” Douglass has lectured and toured the country and been on the dais with such notables as director Oliver Stone.
Refreshments will be provided, and there will be a book signing following the presentation. Books will be available for purchase.

Douglass is a longtime peace activist and writer. He and his wife Shelley are co-founders of the Ground Zero Center for Nonviolent Action in Poulsbo, Washington, and Mary’s House, a Catholic Worker house in Birmingham, Alabama.
His books include The Nonviolent Cross, The Nonviolent Coming of God, and Resistance and Contemplation.
