Titans fall in pivotal region game

With each team needing a win on Friday to get a leg up in the Class 6A, Region 7 standings, Gadsden City fell to Pell City by a score of 35-7. 

Both teams came into the game with identical 2-1 region records

“We had our ups and downs, but I felt like we played our best” said GCHS head coach Matt Scott.

The Panthers (4-2, 3-1) clicked on all cylinders, and it showed early on.

Pell City’s Jaylen Lipscomb intercepted a pass during the Titans (2-4, 2-2) first drive of the game, and the offense didn’t take long to cash in as Ira Burch scored with nine minutes remaining in the first quarter.

The Titans answered back with an Ahmad Deramus touchdown pass to Gabriel Ford with 6:25 remaining in the

half, but the Panthers had made the score 13-7 to end the half.

Pell City outscored the Titans 22-0 in the second half. 

Deramus went 7-for-8 in passing for 40 yards. The Titans as a team rushed for 118 yards. 

Gadsden City plays its final home game of the regular season on Friday against region foe Clay-Chalkville.
