Five local players were nominated for the Alabama High School Athletic Association Prep Spotlight for the week of Sept. 30.
Etowah senior quarterback Daulton Hyatt passed for four touchdowns and ran for another in the Blue Devils’ 61-41 victory over Arab. Hyatt had TD passes of 20, 15, 40 and 31 yards while completing 17-for-23 passes for 286 yards. He also rushed for 89 yards on 12 attempts.
Etowah junior running back Cory Thomas rushed for 191 yards and one touchdown on 18 carries in the Blue Devils’ 61-41 victory over Arab. He also caught a 40-yard TD pass.
Hokes Bluff freshman running back Darrian Meads rushed for 241 yards and four touchdowns on 31 attempts in the Eagles’ 27-24 victory over Oneonta.
Glencoe senior quarterback Cole Holbrooks completed 13-of-21 passes for 279 yards and a touchdown in the Yellow Jackets’ 31-6 win over Pleasant Valley.
Glencoe senior receiver Aaron Bush caught seven passes for 208 yards and one touchdown in the Yellow Jackets’ 31-6 win over Pleasant Valley.
