Five local players were nominated for the Alabama High School Athletic Association Prep Spotlight for the week of Oct. 7.
Southside senior running back Alaric Williams finished with 224 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 11 carries to lead the Panthers to a 42-14 victory over Brewer.
Gadsden City senior running back Damon Williams rushed for 220 yards and two touchdowns in the Titans’ 46-41 victory over Bob Jones.
Sardis junior quarterback Logan Gaskin completed 9-of-12 passes for 207 yards and three touchdowns and rushed 18 times for 108 yards and another score in the Lions’ 41-27 win over DAR.
Sardis senior linebacker Luke Nelson recorded 14 tackles and two sacks in the Lions’ 41-27 victory over DAR.
Etowah senior defensive end Tahj Taylor finished with 10 tackles, including five for a loss, in the Blue Devils’ 51-10 win over Boaz.
