Area players make all-state volleyball teams

Three local players made the first team and three others received honorable mention status for the al.com Class 3A All-State volleyball team for the 2023 season.
Selected to the first team were Westbrook Christian’s Raegan Harrell, Glencoe’s Kaelyn Hollis and Ashville’s Lydia Northam.
A senior outside hitter, Harrell totaled 391 kills, 199 digs, 37 aces and 18 blocks in helping the Lady Warriors go 33-14 record, win a second straight area tournament title finished third at the North Super Re-gional Tournament and earn the program’s first-ever trip to the Elite Eight state tournament. She was named The All-Messenger Volleyball Team’s Player of the Year for the second year in a row.
A junior defensive specialist/libero, Hollis (pictured above at left) finished with 642 digs, 68 assists, 34 kills and 32 aces as the Lady Yellow Jackets won 18 games, finished fourth at regionals and qualified for the Elite Eight for the first time in five years.
A sophomore outside hitter, Northam registered 478 kills, 325 digs and 96 aces to help the lady Bulldogs make the North Super Regional Tournament.
Earning honorable mention recognition were Westbrook sophomore setter Raylee Neal (785 assists, 157 digs, 60 aces, 46 kills), Glencoe senior setter Abi Bunt (531 assists, 321 digs, 54 aces, 43 kills) and Westbrook sophomore middle hitter Landri Lipscomb (267 kills, 209 digs, 72 aces, 68 blocks).
