Glencoe 13, Hokes Bluff 4
Abi Bunt, Kaylee Higdon and Aubrey Maxwell all went 4-for-5 at the plate in Glencoe’s 13-4 victory over Hokes Bluff last Wednesday (Apr. 7). Bunt had two home runs, a double, three RBI and two runs scored; Higdon had a triple, two RBI and two runs scored and Maxwell had two RBI and a run scored. Also for the Lady Yellow Jackets, Hailey Hanners went 3-for-5 with a run scored, while Emma Croy had a hit, and RBI and a run scored. In six innings, winning pitcher Jordyn Morris scattered seven hits, three earned runs and three walks with two strikeouts. She helped her cause with a hit and a run scored. Kileigh Blackwell had a home run, two RBI and a run scored for the Lady Eagles.
Etowah 17, Ashville 0
Sydney Simpson had a bit performance at the plate and in the pitching circle in Etowah 17-0 shutout over Ashville last Wednesday (Apr. 7). Simpson (pictured above) struck out 10 in four innings and helped her cause with three hits and six RBI. Abbi Martin had five RBI for the Lady Blue Devils, while Kalena Beshears and Ellington Jones each had two hits.
Glencoe 12, Geraldine 9
Kayla Traylor’s two-run single in the in the top of the eighth inning broke a 7-7 tie and paved the way for Glencoe’s 12-9 Class 3A, Area 12 win over Geraldine last Tuesday (Apr. 6). The Lady Yellow Jackets collected 14 hits for the game, led by Abi Bunt, Summer Crump and Hailey Hanners with three each. Bunt had an RBI and three runs scored, while Crump and Hanners each had two RBI and two runs scored. Traylor had two hits, two RBI and two runs scored, while Aubrey Maxwell had a hit and two RBI.
Fort Payne 6, Etowah 3
Etowah fell to Fort Payne, 6-3, last Tuesday (Apr. 6). Anna Jones had two RBI for the Class 4A No. 8 Lady Blue Devils.
Springville 9, Southside 3
Southside lost to Springville, 9-3, in Class 6A, Area 13 action last Tuesday (Apr. 6). For the Lady Panthers, Sydney Yancey with 3-for-3 with a home run, an RBI and a run scored; Carly Lankford went 3-for-4; Macey Herren went 2-for-4 with a home run, an RBI and a run scored; and Lynnsey Hunt went 2-for-4 with a double.
Sardis 7, Glencoe 4
Valerie Owens had three hits and Adelyn Ellis had two RBI in Sardis’ 7-4 win over Glencoe last Monday (Apr. 5). Harlee Vincent and Maddie Harris each had a pair hits for the Lady Lions (11-10), while Emma Croy had two RBI for the Lady Yellow Jackets.
Southeastern 7, West End 6
Southeastern rallied from a four-run deficit to post a 7-6 victory over West End in Class 2A, Area 11 action last Monday (Apr. 5) in Remlap. For the Lady Patriots, Josie Bunch went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI; and Payten Canady had two hits and two runs scored.
White Plains 8, Southside 7
White Plains edged Southside, 8-7, last Monday (Apr. 5). For the Lady Panthers, Karlee Thompson went 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI and two runs scored; Macey Herren went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored; Maddie Griffith went 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored; and Julia Hurley went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Southeastern 7, West End 6
West End lost to Class 2A, Area 11 rival Southeastern, 7-6, last Monday (Apr. 5) in Remlap. Josie Bunch had three hits and three RBI for the Lady Patriots, while Emma Finch had two hits and an RBI.
Etowah 10, Ashville 4
Sydney Simpson had a big day on the mound and at the plate in Class 4A No. 8 Etowah’s 10-4 victory over Ashville on April 2. Simpson struck out eight in just three innings as the winning pitcher and helped her cause with three hits and three RBI. Also for the Lady Blue Devils, Abbi Martin had two hits and three RBI, while Lauren Farmer had two hits.
Etowah 10, Boaz 2
Hally Bennett had three hits and five RBI in Etowah’s 10-2 victory over Boaz on April 1. In five innings, winning pitcher Sydney Simpson struck out nine.
