Area volleyball roundup: Glencoe, Westbrook notch wins

Class 3A No. 4 Westbrook Christian Westbrook Christian improved to 31-4 with a tri-match sweep on Thursday, Sept. 26, defeating Class 2A No. 8 West End, 23-25, 25-11, 15-5 and Oneonta, 25-14, 25-16. For the Lady Warriors, Raylee Neal has 47 kills 12 digs, three aces and two kills; Ellison Stewart had 16 kills, six aces and six digs; Marley Cox had 15 kills, eight digs and two aces; Landri Lipscomb had 13 kills, four aces, four blocks and two digs; Kylee Wyatt had 11 digs; and Addi Hammontree had four kills, two aces and two blocks.

Glencoe split a tri-match on Thursday, Sept. 26, defeating Ashville and losing to Fort Payne. For the Lady Yellow Jackets, (18-12), Evelyn Nowak had 23 kills and four digs, Kaelyn Hollis had 30 digs; Kinlee Montgomery had 29 assists and six kills; Avery Barkley had 19 assists and nine digs; Alli Joe Amos had 10 kills, seven digs and two blocks; Ashlyn Stone had seven kills and seven digs; Payton Gray had 16 digs; Mia Talbot had seven kills and six digs; Gracyn Bunt had seven digs, two aces and two assists; and Millie Chambless had five kills.

Westbrook Christian swept a tri-match on Tuesday, Sept. 24, beating Etowah, 25-15, 25-10 and Ashville, 19-25, 25-23, 15-12. For the Lady Warriors, Ellison Stewart had 19 kills, 12 dogs and two aces; Landri Lipscomb had 11 kills, six digs and three blocks; Raylee Neal had 42 assists, 11 digs and two kills; Kylee Wyatt had 23 digs; Marley Cox had 17 digs, nine kills and five aces; Sara Windle had 15 digs; Reid Elam had six digs and two kills; Addi Hammontree had eight kills; Elyse Neal had three digs; and Caroline Taylor had one kill.

Glencoe improved to 17-11 with a tri-match sweep on Tuesday, Sept. 24, beating Cleburne County, 25-16, 25-22 and Woodland, 25-14, 25-8. For the Lady Yellow Jackets, Evelyn Nowak had 23 kills, followed by Mia Talbot with 10, Alli Jo Amos with seven, Ashlyn Stone and Sadie Waldrop with six each and Millie Chambless with two. Avery Barkley distributed 24 assists, followed by Kinlee Montgomery with 16, Payton Gray with nine and Gracyn Bunt with three. Barkley also had five service aces, while Amos and Chambless both had two blocks.
Kaelyn Hollis came up with 11 digs, followed by Barkley and Gray with eight each, Nowak and Montgomery with six each, Bunt with four, Stone with three and Amos, Talbot and Waldrop with two each.

Westbrook Christian posted a 25-22, 25-15, 25-20 victory over Area 12 rival Piedmont on Monday, Sept. 23 in Rainbow City. For the Lady Warriors, Raylee Neal had 23 assists and 10 digs, Marley Cox had 14 digs, eight kills and two aces; Ellison Stewart had seven kills and three digs; and Landri Lipscomb had four kills and three aces.

Westbrook Christian posted a quad match sweep on Thursday, Sept. 19, defeating Sardis, 22-25, 25-15, 15-9; Gadsden City, 25-14, 25-12; and St. Clair County, 25-15, 25-11. For the Lady Warriors, Raylee Neal had 56 assists, 11 dogs, six aces and two kills; Kylee Wyatt had 24 digs; Marley Cox had 20 digs, 15 kills and eight aces; Landri Lipscomb had 19 kills, six blocks, four digs and two aces; Lilly Ford had 17 kills, eight digs and three blocks; Elyse Neal had 16 digs and four aces; Addi Hammontree had nine kills, seven digs and three blocks; Sara Windle had nine digs and four aces; and Reid Elam had five digs and three kills.
