Ashville wins super sectional

The Ashville High wrestling team won the Class 1A-4A North Super Sectional Championship on February 11 at the Birmingham CrossPlex. The Bulldogs advanced to the AHSAA state tournament starting this Friday (Feb. 17) at the Van Braun Center in Huntsville.
Individual winners for the Bulldogs were Layden Olson in the 220-pound weight class and Mason Wilson in the 285-pound weight class. Section runners-up were Tyler Ebner at 152 pounds and Nick Williamson at 145 pounds.
Finishing fourth were Owen Burns at 106 pounds, Owen Meads at 113 pounds, Brady Thrash at 182 pounds and Gavin Hare at 138 pounds.
Also qualifying for state were Jaden Harris at 132 pounds, Bryan Hampton at 160 pounds, Travis Smith at 170 pounds and Trevor Horsely at 195 pounds.
