Attalla’s antique show returns April 25

Attalla’s Treasures in the Streets Antique Show will be held Saturday April 25 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. in downtown Attalla at 5th Ave. North west and 4th Street. 

The biannual event is held every spring and fall. It takes places in rain or shine. 

Dealers come from Ohio, Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and all over Alabama to sell their wares. About 100 vendors will attend.

With so many attending, shoppers will be able to find antiques of all kinds.

“Anything you can think of, will probably be there,” said Theresa Hawkins, the event coordinator.

Food will be available at local restaurants in downtown Attalla, as well as from vendors such as Local Joes, Nana’s Fried Pies and Birchfeild peanuts, who will set up for the event.

For entertainment, there will be a stage located at the Wells Fargo Bank. The Kings of Swing will play from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. The Foggy Hollow Band will play from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.

“It’s a fun event. There might even be street dancing,” said Hawkins.

Only in its second year, the Treasures in the Streets Antique Show has already been recognized as an outstanding event. Last year, the event won a Kaleidoscope award from Southeast Events and Festivals out of Atlanta. the show received a Bronze award for best new event. 

The event, which was created as an attempt to draw customers to downtown Attalla, has succeeded with 3,000 to 4,000 people expected to attend.

The event is sponsored by the City of Attalla, the Greater Attalla Chamber, Senator Phil Williams, Representative Craig Ford, Holiday inn Express, Exchange Bank, Buffalo Rock, Walmart Attalla, Best Western, Ferguson Florist, Sew Unique Stitches, Verizon Wireless and ProHealth.
