Etowah defeated Southside for the fourth time in the past five years with a 27-14 victory on October 29 in Attalla.
For the Blue Devils (6-4, 5-1), Andrew Pierce rushed for 157 yards on 15 carries. Tyler Dobbs added 56 yards and a pair of touchdowns on seven attempts. Trace Thompson was 6 for 13 in passing for 77 yards and a touchdown. Omareon Finch and Jarvis Hardwick each had two receptions.
Both teams will compete in the first round of the AHSAA state playoffs this Friday (Nov. 5). Class 4A Etowah travels to Priceville, while Class 6A Southside (5-5, 3-3) visits Mountain Brook.
