Blue Devils, Panthers, Titans notch region wins

Etowah senior quarterback Jameson Scissum finished with 351 total yards and five touchdowns in the Blue Devils’ 42-6 victory over Oneonta in Class 4A Region 6 action on Friday, Oct. 4 in Attalla.
Scissum was 12-for-21 in passing for 202 yards and two touchdowns and rushed 16 times for 149 yards and three scores.
Also for Etowah, Lamont Richardson had five receptions for 78 yards. He also returned a kickoff for a touchdown. Cash Hayes had four catches for 57 yards and a TD, while Zayden Knight had three 3 receptions for 67 yards and a score. Kason Nelms gained 58 yards on seven carries.
The Blue Devils (2-4, 2-2) continue region play on Friday, Oct. 11 at Anniston.

Southside evened its overall record at 3-3 while improving to 2-1 in Class 6A Region 8 with a 27-6 victory over Mae Jamison on Friday, Oct. 4 in Huntsville.
For the Panthers, Ethan Sarratt was 9-for-12 in passing for 155 yards and a touchdown. He also ran four times for 14 yards and a score.
Koal Garrett paced the Southside ground game with 13 rushes for 105 and a TD. Jamel Boyd: carried 11 times for 49 yards.
Jordan Bryan had five receptions for 74 yards and a touchdown, while Josh Peoples caught four passes for 81 yards.
The Panthers resume region play on Friday, Oct. 11 at home against Buckhorn.

Gadsden City remained undefeated in Class 6A Region 8 with a 55-0 win over Lee-Huntsville on Friday, Oct. 4 in Huntsville.
For the Titans (5-1, 3-0), T.J. Worthy rushed for 134 yards and three touchdowns on seven carries and caught three passes or 38 yards and two scores.
Kai Franklin was 7 for 9 in passing for 157 yards and three TDs. Alex Swafford had four receptions for 131 yards and a touchdown.
Gadsden City continues region play on Friday, Oct. 11 at Fort Payne.
