Is Gaston High the area’s comeback team of the year?

Another goal for the Bulldogs is seven wins, and that seems possible with Pleasant Valley hosting tonight (Nov. 1).

“We feel good about what we’ve done,” Gaston coach Swane Morris said. “But our next goal is seven wins, and that’s what we’re focusing on.”

Even with only three victories, the Red Raiders will field a formidable team.

“They don’t look as bad as the record indicates,” Morris said. “They’ve got some really good backs and a huge line. What they do, they do well.”

With the playoffs looming, Gaston doesn’t want to overlook Pleasant Valley, or their record.

“If we start worrying about other teams’ records, we’ll get in trouble,” Morris said. “We can control our execution and what we do but we can’t control anything about the opposition.”

Jailyn Britton scored three touchdowns last week against West End.
