June 22

Family Success Center, located at 821 East Broad Street, will host a rummage sale from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday. Proceeds will go toward its Kids Kamp for kids aged 4 – 11. For more information, please call 256-547-6888.

Buck’s Island, located at 4500 State Hwy. 77, will host Fish Fest. The event is free for the whole family with a free lunch, Q&A session with professional anglers, tackle booths, free raffles, and more. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

June 29

Back Forty Beer Company will host the 2024 Naked Pig Relay and Sprint Triathlon. Participants will complete a four-mile run, two mile paddle and finish with a 17.5 mile bike ride. The event starts and ends at Back Forty, located at 200 North 6th Street, and will be from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Tickets are $60 for the sprint triathlon and $85 for the sprint triathlon and team relay. The Family Success Center will host a free family fun day at Moragne Park to benefit their Child Abuse Awareness Program from 2 – 4 p.m. There will be free food, live music, balloon animals, face painting, tons of games and free resource tables. The park is located at 100 Moragne Avenue in Gadsden.

Join The City of Rainbow City for its second annual Freedom Flight Drone Show at Vivian Lee Maddox Sports Complex located at 4573 Rainbow Drive. The event will be from 5 to 9 p.m.  and includes food trucks, live music and drones.

Spartan Pro Wrestling will host Prime Time Wrestling – Titan Slam at the Gadsden Mall  located at 1001 Rainbow Drive. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and bell time is 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at www.spartanprowrestling.com

July 3

Back Forty Beer Company will host a firework show starting at 4 p.m. The event is free.

Big Wills located at 2075 Hwy. 77 in Attalla will host an Independence Day celebration. Spend the day tubing for $12.99 or enjoy the free firework show starting shortly after dark. Bring a chair and enjoy the show.

July 4

The Venue at Coosa Landing located at 201 George Wallace Drive will host The First Thursday Food Truck Fest from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Gadsden-Etowah Patriots Association will host an Independence Day fireworks show at River Park at Coosa Landing located at 108 North Hood Avenue. The event will take place from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. Prime viewing spots are the Convention Hall and Mort Glosser Amphitheater parking lots and the Coosa Landing parking lot. Fireworks will be shot from the Coosa Landing walking trail. The show begins at dark.

July 5

Gadsden 5th Street Farmers Market located at 439 Locus Street will be open from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. Buy fresh fruits, vegetables and more from local vendors.

July 6

The Carver Community Revitalization Committee will host First Saturday at Carver Square located at 1030 Tuscaloosa Avenue in Gadsden. Enjoy music, food, family-friendly activities and a sense of community at historical Carver Square. The event is free and will start at 4 p.m.

July 21

The Cornutt Family Reunion Singing will be held at 6 p.m. at Meadowbrook Church located at 3525 Rainbow Drive.

Zumba classes will be held Monday nights at 6 p.m. at the Southside Community Center. The cost is $5 a class, but those buying five classes get the sixth class free.

The Northeast Alabama Geealogical Society recently announced the completion of the Clayton Cemetery book, which contains over 350 pages of information on those buried at Clayton Cemetery. Every effort was made to identify those resting in the cemetery. Some buried there may not be included since no official records were kept. Nichols Memorial Library, home of the Northeast Alabama Genealogical Society, is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursdays for anyone interested in family history research.

A history and research group meets on Thursdays at 9 a.m. Everyone is welcome to attend and participate. The library contains genealogical information and family files from all areas of Alabama, Georgia, North and South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and other states.
