Community Safety Night brings community together

The Gadsden Police Department offered residents a chance to meet first responders by partnering with other local public safety agencies for the 2nd annual Community Safety Night.

The event was held from 5 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2025, at The Venue at Coosa Landing.

This family-oriented event was not only full of fun activities, but the goal was also to increase the familiarity between law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMTs and Gadsden and Etowah County citizens. Community Safety Night is part of a nationwide event known as National Night Out.

“Our first responders do amazing work, but we all benefit when they don’t have to do it alone,” said Gadsden Mayor Craig Ford. “We’re stronger when we work together to protect our community, and this event shows our commitment to building and maintaining these critical relationships.”

Joining the Gadsden Police Department at this year’s event was the Gadsden Fire Department, Etowah County Sheriff’s Office, Gadsden State Police Department, Southside Police Department, Rainbow City Police Department, Hokes Bluff Police Department, Sardis Police Department and Altoona Police Department.

Children and families were able to explore various types of law enforcement and public safety vehicles, including fire trucks, the police boat, SWAT vehicles and more.

Community Safety Night also included local nonprofits who provide important services around the county.
