Conquerors back on track with win over Pell City

Class 2A No. 5 Coosa Christian posted a 17-7 win over Pell City on Friday, Aug. 30.
The Conquerors (1-1) held the Class 6A Panthers to 222 yards, including 78 on the ground, while limiting Pell City to one successful third down conversion in 10 attempts.
For Coosa, John David Justus was 9 for 15 in passing for 122 yards. He also rushed for 14 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries.
Kanon Wilson (pictured above) gained 11 yards on 26 attempts while catching three passes for 16 yards. Kylen Johnson and Eli Motes each had two receptions.
Clete O’Bryant finished with eight tackles, followed by Grayson Malone with 7.5, Radley Mays with six (three for a loss), Motes and Johnson with 5.5 each and D.J. Mackey with five.
Mays had two sacks, while Mackey had one. L.J. Mostella had an interception. Motes kicked a 35-yard field goal and was 2-for-2 on extra points.
The Conquerors kick off their Class 2A Region 6 schedule on Friday, Sept. 6 at home against Southeastern.
