Conquerors extend win, shutout streaks

Coosa Christian extended its winning streak to six games and the Conqueror defense recorded its fourth straight shutout with a 43-0 homecoming win over Class 2A Region 6 rival Cleveland on Friday, Oct. 4 in Gadsden.
Coosa limited the visiting Panthers to 20 offensive yards and two first downs while holding Cleveland to 2-for-14 on third and fourth down conversion attempts combined.
Clete O’Bryant ended up with 10 tackles, including four for a loss. Cade Mickler had seven stops, followed by Halen Palmer with six and D.J. Mackey with six each. Mackey also had four tackles for a loss along with a sack.
J’Alan Terry rushed for 63 yards and a touchdown on two carries, while Kylen Johnson returned a kickoff 86 yards for a touchdown.
John David Justus was 4-for-10 in passing for 123 yards and two touchdowns, both to Johnson, who had two receptions for 69 yards. L.J. Mostella, Mackey and Rex Dodd each caught a pass. Jorge Cantellano was 5-for-5 on extra points.
The Conquerors remain at home next week with a region game against Cold Springs on Friday, Oct. 4.
