Conquerors pitch second straight shutout

Coosa Christian won its fourth consecutive game while notching its second straight shutout with a 59-0 win over Susan Moore on Friday, Sept. 20 in Snead.
The Conquerors (4-1, 3-0) limited the Bulldogs to 97 total yards, including 51 yards rushing, and held Susan Moore to 3 for 15 on third and fourth down conversion attempts combined. Coosa also forced and recovered three fumbles and blocked a punt that was returned for a touchdown.
For the Conquerors, Jalen Terry (pictured above at left) rushed for 147 yards and two touchdowns on just two carries. Kylen Johnson ran for a 71-yard touchdown.
John David Justus was 5 for 6 in passing for 114 yards and a touchdown and had three carries for 48 yards and a score. Grayson Malone had two receptions for 35 yards. Jorge Castellano was 5 for 5 on extra points. Dylan Edwards caught a 56-yard touchdown pass.
Hayden Pearce led the way defensively with nine tackles, followed by Clete O’Bryant with 8.5, Zayden Franklin with 7.5, Radley Mays with 6.5 and Cade Mickler with 5.5. Mays and Franklin each had four tackles for a loss. Mays, Dylan Mackey and Dylan Edwards each recovered a fumble.
Coosa hosts Class 3A No. 3 Fyffe on Thursday, Sept. 26 in a non-region game.
