Coosa defense chops down Woodville

The Coosa Christian defense forced five turnovers – four fumble recoveries and one interception – in the Conquerors’ 46-6 victory over Class 1A, Region 7 rival Woodville on October 21.
Coosa (5-4, 5-1), which finished second in the region’s playoff seedings, will host Hackleburg in the first round of the state playoffs on November 4.
Playing in just two and one-half quarters, sophomore linebacker Clete O’Bryant (pictured above) wreaked havoc with the Woodville offense, finishing with 11 tackles (including five for a loss), an interception and a fumble recovery.
Also for the Conquerors, John David Justus was 9 for 12 in passing for 238 yards and three touchdowns. Jy Mostella rushed for 88 yards and three touchdowns.
Eli Motes had two receptions for 73 yards and a touchdown, Jacoby Tucker caught two passes for 64 yards and a TD and Thomas Skaggs had two receptions for 54 yards and a score.
Matthew Wright blocked a punt that Kaeden Hill recovered and returned for a touchdown. Grayson Malone returned an interception for a touchdown.
Motes had 10 tackles, followed by Dalton McGraw with seven and Dalton Hyatt with five.
Coosa closes out the regular season this Friday (Oct. 28) at home against Victory Christian.
