Eagles, Yellow Jackets, Bulldogs notch wins

Darrian Meads’ 10-yard touchdown in overtime gave Hokes Bluff a 27-24 victory over Class 4A, Region 5 rival Oneonta last Friday (Sept. 30) at HBHS.
Meads rushed for 241 yards and four touchdowns on 31 attempts.
The Eagles (3-3, 2-1) travel to Ashville this week for another region contest.

Glencoe halted a three-game losing streak with a 31-6 win over Pleasant Valley in Class 3A, Region 5 action last Friday (Sept. 30) at GHS.
For the Yellow Jackets (3-3, 1-2), Cole Holbrooks completed 13 of 21 passes for 279 yards and one touchdown. Aaron Bush caught seven passes for 208 yards and one touchdown.
Austin Bush ran for 39 yards and two touchdowns on nine carries. Katie Smith kicked a 25-yard field goal
Austin Bush and Bradley Scott each had 10 tackles, followed by Aaron Bush with eight, Paul Hicks with six and Noah Huff with five.
Glencoe travels to Weaver this week for more region action.

D.J. Pope rushed for a pair of touchdowns and Kevin Hollingsworth passed for one score and ran for another in Gaston High’s 47-0 shutout over Asbury in a Class 2A, Region 6 game last Friday (Sept. 30) at GHS.
J.D. Pope, Cameron Peacock and Tyler Tinsley each ran for a touchdown for the Bulldogs (4-3, 3-1), while Alexander Allen caught a TD pass.
Gaston hosts region opponent Ider this week.
