Etowah wins; Westbrook, Sardis, Glencoe come up short

Etowah assumed first place in the current Class 4A, Region 6 standings with a 31-7 victory over No. 4 Oneonta on September 30. The Blue Devils (5-1, 4-0) continue region play this Friday (Oct. 7) at home against Hanceville.

Westbrook Christian fell to Class 3A Region 6 rival and No. 3 Piedmont, 34-0, on September 29 in Rainbow City. The Warriors (4-2, 2-2) visit region rival Geraldine this Friday (Oct. 7).

Sardis lost to Douglas, 49-8, in Class 5A Region 7 action on September 30. The Lions’ lone score came on Brian Chapman’s 1-yard touchdown and two-point conversion run with 5:52 remaining in the third quarter. Sardis (3-3, 1-2) travels to region rival Scottsboro this Friday (Oct. 7).

Glencoe fell to Sylvania, 42-7, in Class 3A, Region 6 action on September 30. The Yellow Jackets (2-4, 0-4) host Piedmont this Friday (Oct. 7) in region play.
