Etowah’s Wilson to play at Kansas juco

Etowah High School senior Malik Wilson signed a football scholarship with Dodge City (Kans.) Community College on Feb. 9. Wilson also had scholarship offers from Tennessee Tech, Mercer, Shorter University, Independence Community College and Garden City Community College. Dodge City had 11 players sign Division I scholarships this year and finished ranked No. 15 in the final national junior college poll. A three-year starter at safety for the Blue Devils, the 6-2, 250-pound Wilson finished with 75 tackles (seven for a loss), two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and two interceptions while helping Etowah go 9-3 and make it to the second round of the Class 5A state playoffs. Also a standout in track and field, Wilson finished earned a silver medal in the high jump at the state meet.
