Etowah fell to Fort Payne, 33-29, in high school football on September 24 in Attalla.
For the Blue Devils (3-2, 2-0), Trace Thompson was 12 for 23 in passing for 183 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for a score. Andrew Pierce caught five passes for 70 yards and a TD. Omareon Finch and Jarvis Hardwick each had three catches, Finch for 34 yards and Hardwick for 68.
Briggs Freeman rushed for 116 yards on 16 carries, while Caleb Freeman gained 72 yards on five attempts.
Etowah returns to region action this Friday (Oct. 1) at home against Good Hope.
Hokes Bluff lost to Spring Garden, 21-0, in high school football on September 24. For the Eagles (2-3, 2-1), Jordan Bradley was 3 for 7 in passing for 22 yards. Tucker Griffin rushed for 60 yards on 15 carries. Hokes Bluff return to Class 3A, Region 6 play this Friday (Oct. 1) at home against Weaver.
Glencoe fell to Douglas, 41-7, in high school football on September 24. Glencoe’s lone score came on Mason Teague’s 8-yard touchdown pass to Kade Kueny for 8 yards and Gavin Bray’s PAT. For the Yellow Jackets (0-5, 0-3), Levi Long rushed for 40 yards on 11 attempts. Teague was 5 for 14 for 35 yards. Garrett Morgan had two receptions for 27 yards. Kade Kueny had eight tackles, followed by Wade Segrest with six and Kody Kueny with five.
Glencoe hosts Class 3A, Region 6 rival Walter Wellborn this Friday (Oct. 10).
Westbrook Christian fell to Randolph, 35-0, in high school football on September 24 in Rainbow City.
For the Warriors (2-3, 1-2), Mason Coley was 10 for 18 in passing for 141 yards. Hugh Windle and Carl Henry each had three catches, the former for 67 and the latter for 32. Karmichael Cattling paced the ground game with 75 yards on 25 carries. Jesse Palmer ran four times for 20 yards.
Westbrook travels to Walnut Grove this Friday (Oct. 1) for a Class 2A, Region 6 game against West End.
Gaston lost to Ragland, 78-0, on September 24. The Bulldogs (0-6, 0-3) resume their Class 2A, Region 6 schedule this Friday (Oct. 1) at Spring Garden.
Coosa Christian lost to Gatlinburg-Pittman (Tenn.), 56-7, on September 24. The Conquerors (3-3, 2-1) have an open date this week before visiting Class 1A, Region 7 rival Valley Head on October 8.
