You are invited to a free afternoon and evening of music, fun, food and fellowship, all for a good cause July 27 at Noccalula Falls Campground.
A benefit concert to benefit Sandy’s Place, a transitional home for women, also features vendors, door prizes and a raffle for a Washburn electric guitar signed by the Kentucky Headhunters and Confederate Railroad, and an Alabama football signed by the BCS 2011-2012 National Championship team.
Falling Eagle Productions organized the event to help raise money for the facility, located in the Ducks Springs community. Joey Nichols of Falling Eagle, said the concert will benefit a worthwhile and needed organization.
Ann Wynn of Sandy’s Place said in the past two years, about 70 women have received help at the transitional home. Recently, she said, request for help have come from some women with young children, and Sandy’s Place is hoping to raise money through the concert to build cottages to house young women and their children while they participate in the counseling they have access to through the home.
Sandy’s Place offers staff help and supervision, access to off-site substance abuse treatment if needed and access to an off-site licensed professional counselor, if needed, as well as temporary help with transportation and the assistance and support needed to achieve independence and personal goals.
There’s no charge for admission but donations will be sought to help support Sandy’s Place. Gates open at 12 p.m. and the music started at 1 p.m. The last band will take the stage around 9:40 p.m.
The line up includes: William & the Cross Camp Cowboy Band, performing classic rock, gospel and country music; Queen Schwartz with Deezy, Lovely & Showtime, doing rap and choreography; Sheila Smith, Motown and R&B; the Matt Harvey Band, blues and classic rock; country performer Bobby Mountain; The Wildflowers, a Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers cover band; County Road 66 Band; Todd Simpsom and Mojo Child, performing blues, Jimi Hendrix and rock; James Miller and the County Road Band, formerly Southern by Grace, performing modern country; and the Nova 9 Band which performs ‘80s and ‘90s rock.
Fret Michaels will be on hand to meet and greet people all day, and expect a visit from “Edith & Archie” (Linda Farley and Betty Harris. Kim Farley will also sing.
