Girl Scouts host free family event in Rainbow City

RAINBOW CITY, Ala. — Adventure is just around the corner at Green Flag Weekend, a free event hosted by Girl Scouts of North-Central Alabama on Saturday, August 23, at 2:30 p.m. at Rainbow City Hall.

Open to all girls in grades K–12, this family-friendly event offers a fun, hands-on introduction to the Girl Scout experience—no membership required. Girls will take part in exciting activities like science experiments, engineering and art projects, pony rides, and classic camp favorites like archery and s’mores—all while making new friends from their community.

“Girl Scouts offers girls the freedom to be themselves, the support to explore what excites them, and the experiences that help them grow,” said Karen Peterlin, Chief Executive Officer of Girl Scouts of North-Central Alabama. “Green Flag Weekend is a welcoming first step into a space where every girl can feel seen, inspired, and excited to try something new.”

Whether you’re curious about joining or just looking for a fun afternoon, Green Flag Weekend is a chance to see what Girl Scouts is all about—right in your own backyard.

To RSVP, visit girlscoutsnca.org, click the green banner at the top of the homepage, select Rainbow City, and fill out a short form. Walk-ups are welcome, but registration is encouraged.

Girl Scouts of North-Central Alabama serves more than 10,000 members across 36 counties, building girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place.
