Girls basketball roundup: Shaw sharp from downtown in Southside’s 63-point win

Naomi Wise scored 14 points and grabbed five rebounds and Destiny Whiteside netted 12 points and cleared six boards in Gadsden City’s 50-33 victory over Springville on Jan. 6. Jaedyn Sharpe added eight points for the Lady Titans, while Aniyah Williams chipped in six.

Southside improved to 16-3 with an 89-26 victory over Lincoln on Jan. 5. Madison Shaw (pictured above at left) knocked down five 3-point baskets on the way to a game-high 22 points along with three forced turnovers and three tipped passes. Grace Ann Rose finished with 19 points, four forced turnovers and three tipped passes, while Laylah Davis wound up with 14 points, five assists, four tipped passes, three forced turnovers and three rebounds. Mallory Brooks scored seven points, while Bailey Houston added six. Sarakate Yancey collected five points, six tipped passes, five assists and three rebounds, while Jovi Marble had five assists, five tipped passes and four rebounds.

Gadsden City fell to Hewitt-Trussville, 56-41 on Jan. 2. Madison Tinker and Destiny Whiteside each scored 10 points for the Lady Titans, while Jaedyn Sharp added eight. Aniyah Williams collected eight rebounds and four assists.
