Glencoe finishes first, Westbrook second at golf substates

The Glencoe High and Westbrook Christian girls golf teams won first and second place, respectively, at the Class 1A-3A substate playoff on Monday (May 4) at the Gadsden Country Club.

Both teams will compete in the state tournament on May 11-12 in Mobile. 

The Lady Yellow Jackets finished with a 239 score, while the Lady Warriors totaled 248. 

Hope Bishop was Glencoe’s low medalist with a 72 score, followed by Madison Cole with 78, Madison Autwell with 89 and Lauren Cole with 93.

Ali Porter was Westbrook’s low medalist with a 78 score, followed by Ellie Porter with 83, Ella Lawley with 87 and April Godsey with 91.

In addition, the Lady Warriors’ Hope Cone qualified for the state tournament with an 80 score, while teammate Sydney Fairchild scored 91.
