Glencoe Library honors local veterans

The Glencoe Public Library recently honored our local Glencoe Veterans.

Debbie Bradford started the program, welcoming all. She also introduced all of the librarians and invited everyone to come and visit our library.

Harold Batie led the Pledge of Allegiance and told us that this year is the two hundredth anniversary of “The National Anthem.” He told the history of the song, written by Francis Scott Key, and also pointed out that there are four verses to the song.

Anne Batie thanked the City of Glencoe and the Crawford Able VFW for the beautiful display of American flags on the median through Glencoe. Each flag represents a Veteran who has passed.

John Graham, a retired Air Force Veteran, talked about the Patriotism Association. They honor Veterans throughout the county for their service.

He also talked about his time in the military and places he served.

A time was given for Veterans to share their time in service.

After the shared time, each Veteran received a pin, “Honor Veteran,” to show appreciation for their service to our country.

Refreshments were served and fellowship followed.
