Good Hope rallied for a 21-12 decision over West End last Friday (Nov. 2) in Walnut Grove in the season finale for both squads.

West End (1-9) struck first on its second possession, needing only two plays for Hunter Demedicis to cross the goal line on a 60-yard run. The point-after attempt failed, but the Patriots led 6-0.

Although the Raiders (3-7) had only six offensive plays in the second quarter, they still managed to get on the board. Jerrod McClure dashed 39 yards for a touchdown and added the point-after to give the Raiders a 7-6 lead.

West End answered with a 75-yard drive that ate up almost all the second-quarter clock. With less that a minute remaining before the break, Chase Blanton punched the ball in from the Good Hope 4-yard line to give the Patriots a 12-7 advantage.

The second half was a defensive struggle for both sides. Good Hope was forced to punt the ball four times, while West End had three of its own. What helped the Raiders were two turnovers by the Patriots, each one leading to a touchdown.

The first fumble was in the third quarter. Kendall Duke caused the Patriots to fumble, and Austin White covered it up. Quarterback Cainan Smith found Chris Raper wide open for a 52-yard touchdown.

In the fourth period, Josh Grigsby recovered another Patriot fumble. McClure added his second touchdown on the night, this time on a 35-yard run.
