Gadsden Regional honored three of its own recently by naming a trio of employees as Employee of the Year and Clinical and Non-Clinical Managers of the Year.

The Imaging Department’s Tommy Batson was named Employee of the Year. Batson, who is the hospital’s PACS administrator, was named Employee of the Month in October 2013.

His nomination for Employee of the Year called him “one of a kind,” “very knowledgeable and always helpful” and “an asset.”

“(Batson’s) positive attitude and humor is contagious and makes us all a better person,” the nomination stated.

Married to his wife Debbie for 33 years, Batson has two children and one grandson. A military veteran, he has been at GRMC since 2002.

Rehabilitation Services Director David Ellis received the Clinical Manager of the Year award.

Ellis, a physical therapist, has been with GRMC since 1993. He also oversees the hospital’s Wellness Committee.

Ellis’ nomination called him “a fair manager” who strives to keep his staff well informed.

Ellis and his wife, Lisa, have two children.

Lora Ramsey, director Health Information Management, was named Non-Clinical Manager of the Year.

Ramsey’s nomination praised her work during the hospital’s electronic medical record conversion.

The nomination called Ramsey “committed to her job, her peers and her community,” as well as “exceptional” and a “pleasure to work with.”

Ramsey has been with GRMC since 2004. She and her husband, Tim, have three children.

A reception for Batson, Ellis and Ramsey was held Jan. 20 in the hospital’s

Mirror Room.
