GSCC hosts ACETA conference; Rick Bragg to speak

Gadsden State Community College will host the Association of College English Teachers of Alabama (ACETA) Conference Feb. 21 – 22 on the East Broad Campus.

ACETA President Steve Hubbard will welcome conference attendees and the award winning papers will be read to begin the two-day conference. College English instructors from throughout the state will participate in this educational event designed to enhance networking among colleagues and provide opportunities for the instructors to showcase their talents.

The public is invited to attend the keynote address featuring Rick Bragg, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author, at Wallace Hall Fine Arts Center on Friday, Feb. 21 at 5 p.m. There is no attendance charge for this event.  Bragg’s monthly stories are featured in Southern Living Magazine where he shares his entertaining insight into culture and real life events.

“We are proud to host the conference this year and excited to be a part of activities that inspire our colleagues,” Dr. Leslie Worthington, Gadsden State language and humanities division chair said.  “The ACETA conference provides an opportunity for educators to share instructional strategies that have uniquely improved college classes in our state and throughout our nation.” For more information contact Dr. Worthington at 256-549-8279, 256-927-1826 or lworthington@gadsdenstateedu
