Hokes Bluff to host area softball tournament

Hokes Bluff clinched the right to host the Class 3A Area 11 softball tournament with a 10-2 victory over Ohatchee on Monday, April 15.

For the Lady Eagles (16-10-1), winning pitcher Lacy Grace Hall (pictured above) allowed four hits, one earned run and four walks while striking out seven in seven innings. Hall helped her cause by going 4-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI and two runs scored.

Abby Payne also had a big day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and three runs scored. Peyton Ward went 3-for-4 with three RBI, while Makenna Bennich had a two-run double.

Hall also went the distance on April 13 against Glencoe, scattering six hits, two runs and three walks with a pair of strikeouts. She received considerable support from Ryan Lumpkin, who went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, two RBI and two runs scored. Kadyn Howell went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored, while Payne had a hit, an RBI and a run scored.

For the Lady Yellow Jackets (11-18) Abi Bunt had a two-run home run and a run scored; Caitlin Romano went 2-for-3 and Emma Croy went 2-for-4.
