Auburn Week 3 Review

The Tigers dropped a weekend home series to LSU despite winning the opening game, 8-5. Auburn has struggled to start conference play and currently resides at the bottom of the SEC West Division standings. At 13-15 overall and 2-7 in league play, the Tigers would currently miss the SEC tournament in head coach Butch Thompson’s first season on the Plains. Auburn travels to Missouri this weekend to take on the Tigers, who are currently at the bottom of the SEC East standings.

Alabama Week 3 Review

Alabama lost a road series at Georgia after losing the final two games. The Crimson Tide rank second in the SEC West heading into this weekend’s series at Kentucky. Alabama is currently 16-11 overall and 5-4 in conference play. The Tide currently is sitting right outside of the college baseball Top 25.

Week 4 Previews and Predictions

Alabama at Kentucky. Alabama’s hitting has been inconsistent in the SEC. The Crimson Tide must improve quickly in that area before this weekend’s series against Kentucky. The Wildcats are in the middle of the SEC East standings but have had a great start to the season. Series Prediction: Kentucky 2, Alabama 1.

Auburn at Missouri.  Both sets of Tigers badly need to win this series, and that’s putting it mildly. Buried at the bottom of the SEC standings, both teams would be on the outside looking in for the SEC Tournament. There’s still plenty of time left to turn the season around, and perhaps this weekend will be the turning point for one of these teams. Series Prediction: Auburn 2, Missouri 1.

Georgia at Texas A&M. The Aggies are looking to bounce back after being swept by Florida last weekend. Talent-wise, Texas A&M is probably the best team in the West Division. However, the Aggies currently are two games behind Mississippi State in the West and need a strong showing this weekend against Georgia to make up some of the gap. Series Prediction: Texas A&M 3, Georgia 0.

Vanderbilt at LSU. LSU’s slow start in the con-ference has been somewhat surprising, but there is still plenty of time for the Tigers to turn things around and return to the top of the SEC standings. Vanderbilt once again is near the top in both the SEC and the national standings, but the Commodores will face an LSU team that desperately needs a series win this weekend. Series Prediction: LSU 2, Vanderbilt 1.

Tennessee at South Carolina. The Gamecocks are playing as well as anyone in the country right now, and they’re catching a Tennessee team that has struggled in conference play. The top of the SEC East is loaded, with the South Carolina, Florida and Vanderbilt all national title contenders. Series Prediction: South Carolina 3, Tennessee 0.

Mississippi State at Florida. The Bulldogs and Gators currently reside atop the West and East division standings, respectively. Florida swept Texas A&M over the weekend, and the Aggies were ranked No. 1 in the country heading into that series. Meanwhile, Mississippi State took two of three from in-state rival Ole Miss. Series Prediction: Florida 2, Mississippi State 1

Arkansas at Ole Miss. Ole Miss put together a very productive start to the season in non-conference play, but the Rebels have not played well thus far in the SEC. Arkansas is a game below .500 in the conference, so this weekend’s series will be a big one for these SEC West rivals. Series Prediction: Ole Miss 2, Arkansas 1.
