Auburn Week 5 Review

At the halfway point of its Southeastern Conference schedule, Auburn finally picked up its first SEC series win. The Tigers edged past Tennessee 2-0 and 7-6 in the final two games of the series to improve to 18-19 overall and 5-10 in conference. The victories over the Vols provided new life for Auburn moving forward, and as of now the Tigers would be in the SEC Tournament field. AU travels to Oxford this weekend (April 22-24) to take on Ole Miss.

Alabama Week 5 Review

Alabama defeated Ole Miss in the final two games of the weekend series, improving to above .500 in conference play. The series win provided a boost to the Crimson Tide’s NCAA Tournament resume, and UA is only two games back in the SEC West Division. Alabama improved to 23-15 overall and 8-7 in league play. The Tide travels to College Station this weekend to take on Texas A&M.

Week 6 Previews and Predictions

Arkansas at Kentucky. The Razorbacks have struggled in recent weeks, and as a result currently reside at the bottom of the SEC West Division standings. With half of its conference schedule still remaining, Arkansas has plenty of time to turn things around, starting with this weekend’s series in Lexington. Series Prediction: Kentucky 2, Arkansas 1.

Georgia at Florida. Right now, Florida is the best team in college baseball. The Gators continue to run through their SEC schedule and currently are ranked No. 1 in the rankings. Georgia is two games ahead of Tennessee and Missouri in the SEC East Division and will need to steal one of these games to avoid falling to the bottom of the league. Series Prediction: Florida 3, Georgia 0.

Alabama at Texas A&M. After a series win at Mississippi State, Texas A&M moved to the top of the SEC West. Alabama is only two games behind, but the Tide’s bats must travel well to College Station this weekend. The Aggies are ranked third in the college baseball rankings, while the Crimson Tide is just outside the top 30. Series Prediction: Texas A&M 2, Alabama 1.

Auburn at Ole Miss. The Rebels are looking to bounce back after last weekend’s losses to Alabama, while Auburn is looking to continue its wi-nning streak. Ole Miss is still a top 15 team, but the Rebels do have a sub .500 record in conference play. Series Predictions: Ole Miss 2, Auburn 1.

Missouri at South Carlina. Despite losing a series to Georgia last weekend, the Gamecocks remained tied for first overall in the SEC. More good news for South Carolina fans: Missouri probably is the worst team in the SEC, so this is a great opportunity for the Gamecocks to surge ahead of Florida in the league standings. Series Prediction: South Carolina 3, Missouri 0.

Vanderbilt at Tennessee. The Commodores are only a couple of games behind Florida and South Carolina in the East Division and might be just as talented as those teams. Sweeping the Vols would put Vandy firmly in the mix for the top seed in the league, but Tennessee is a desperate team searching for at least one win this weekend at home. Series Prediction: Vanderbilt 3, Tennessee 0.

Mississippi State at LSU. This is the only top 10 matchup of the week in the SEC, and it’s between two teams that aren’t even in first place in their own division. The depth of the league is astounding, especially considering that there are five teams in the top eight of the rankings and seven in the top 15. Both MSU and LSU should host a regional in the NCAA Tournament. Series Prediction: LSU 2, Mississippi State 1.
