Jerry was born and raised in Gadsden, Alabama. He worked at Cleaner Hanger Company for 21 years. In 2004 he decided to become a police officer, which was his dream from a small child. In 2005, he graduated from the Police Academy and started as a patrolman with the Attalla Police Department. He was very passionate about his job. He retired in 2021 as a Captain of the Attalla Police Department. Even after retiring, he dedicated himself to protecting and serving as a School Resource Officer for Attalla and Gadsden City Schools.
In his spare time, he enjoyed playing the guitar, watching Auburn Football, taking naps, cracking jokes, telling the funniest stories and spending time with his family. To know him was to love him.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 26 years, Karen Williams; son, Aaron Williams; daughter, Kori Washburn; grandson, Jaxon Williams; granddaughter, Kameryn Phillips; brother, Mike (Odessa) Williams; sisters, Sheila Toole, Wanda Belyeu, Libby Belyeu, Cindy Williams, Kim (Tommy) Stewart, Kris (Randi) Foster; mother in law, Dianne Miller, Carol Foster; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Colton Harden, Steven Cummings, Victor Payne, Matt Fountain, Jacob Bradley, Doug Jordan, Brian Mann, Steven Hill, and Seth Benefield.
Special thanks to the City of Attalla Police and Fire Departments and Mark Henderson for always making him laugh.
Jerry’s funeral service was Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at Morgan Funeral Chapel with Sheriff Jonathon Horton officiating. Visitation was prior to the service with burial taking place at Crestwood Cemetery.
