J.B. Pennington edges Westbrook in region tilt

J.B. Pennington edged Westbrook Christian, 33-30, in a Class 2A Region 6 game on Friday, Oct. 18 in Blountsville.
For the Warriors (5-3, 3-3), Brody Blevins was 9 for 23 in passing for 254 yards and three touchdowns. He was the team’s leading rusher with 64 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries.
Brody Johnson (pictured above) had four receptions for 103 yards and a touchdown, while Beckham Hammontree had two catches for 65 yards and a TD and Bo Kilgo caught two passes for 76 yards and a score.
Read Barber was 4 for 4 in extra points and punted three times for 111 yards.
Defensively for Westbrook, Titus Jones had 16 tackles, including three for a loss; Noah Wright 15 tackles, a sack. And a forced fumble; Easton Skaggs had 15 tackles, including three for a loss; Brooks Whiteside and Jake Haney each had 10 tackles; Max Legg had nine tackles and a fumble recovery; Jackson Ramsay had nine tackles and an interception; Jaxon Marotz had eight tackles and a blocked punt; and Isaiah Hooten had seven tackles.
The Warriors continue region play on Friday, Oct. 25 at home against Weaver.
