James “Jim” Robert Russell

James “Jim” Robert Russell, 80, of Southside, Alabama, passed away on Nov. 4.

Papa, as his family knew him and loved him, was a faithful Christian, a loving husband, a father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was an Auburn graduate and an avid model train collector. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Southside and a member of Adult Senior Sunday School Class. Jim had a special love for all his animals, especially his chickens. He worked at Republic Steel for 32 years. He was well known for working on antique radios and juke boxes. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge of Southside and was the happiest when he was with his family.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents Denvard and Freida Russell and Edna Russell, and mother-in-law Meriam King.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Dinah Russell, son Scott (Belinda) Russell, daughters; Tina (Alan) Jones, Angie (Brian) Davis, grandchildren; Hunter Russell (Vander) Kendra (Nath) Sherrod, Hannah (Tyler) Beegle, Jordan Davis (Ashleigh), Alex (Zoe) Jones, great grandchildren, Deklen Sherrod, Jaxson Beegle, and Emmie Grace Beegle, and to our special Godchild Amanda Maynor.
