The Kiwanis Club of Gadsden received a $1,000 grant from Walmart thru their local giving facility program. The grant is given to organizations Walmart feels is doing important work to the communities they serve. The Kiwanis of Gadsden will use the funds for their annual Area Youth Christmas Shopping event on Dec.14 at the East Gadsden Walmart Store.
Over 40 children will be selected by The Salvation Army Clearing House. The parents will be encouraged to provide a shopping list including clothing/shoe sizes. A Kiwanis member will be partnered to shop with each child and is budgeted to spend approximately $100 per child. Some parents will shop with their children and some drop them off while they shop with a Kiwanis member or Kiwanis youth groups from Middle School Builders Clubs and High School Key Clubs. The Kiwanis Club of Gadsden Christmas Shopping for low income children fills a void for children who might otherwise not receive Christmas gifts during this most important season of the year.
