The Glencoe High girls cross country team finished in first place in the Class 1A-4A division at the Black & Gold Invitational 5K at Scottsboro last Saturday (Sept 24).
The Lady Yellow Jackets’ average time of 22:30.81 was almost a minute faster than runner-up Pisgah (23:29.94).
Five Glencoe runners placed in the top 10. Katie Giles paced the Lady Jackets with a runner-up time of 21:41.55, followed by Sarah Ponder in third place at 21:53.06, Allie Jo Amos in fifth place at 22:44.38, Chloe Douglas in ninth place at 23:05.08 and Jaxson Sizemore in 10th place at 23:09.98. Elizabeth Harrison earned points with a 15th place time of 23:33.33.
Westbrook Christian’s Lilly Ostendorf came in 15th with a time of 23:33.24.
