Lady Panthers win eight matches

Southside split a tri-match at Springville last Tuesday (Sept. 22). The Lady Panthers (14-11) lost to Springville, 13-25, 22-25, 15-25 before defeating Hewitt-Trussville, 21-25, 25-15, 15-9. For Southside, Kathryn Webb had 40 assists. Macey Herren had 14 kills, followed by Rachel Wilson with 13 and Sydney Yancey and Ella Knowlton with eight each. Hannah Ro-gers came up with 10 digs, followed by Herren and Ziniah Hardy with seven each, Webb with six and Yancey with four. Wilson also had three blocks.

Southside High improved to 13-9 with a home tri-match sweep last Monday (Sept. 21). The Lady Panthers opened with a 25-10, 25-14 win over Gadsden City, followed by a 25-21, 25-15 victory over Boaz. For Southside, Kathryn Webb distributed 32 assists, while Ziniah Hardy served up four aces. Keelan Vice had 10 kills, followed by Rachel Wilson and Sydney Yancey with seven each and Ella Knowlton with six.

Southside High went 3-2 at the Trussville Invitational Tournament last Saturday (Sept. 19). The Lady Panthers defeated Carver-Birmingham, 25-8, 25-25-11; Hewitt-Trussville, 25-17, 25-19; and Walter Wellborn, 25-6, 25-11. Southside lost to Westminster Christian, 8-25, 14-25 and Thompson, 19-25, 13-25. For the Lady Panthers, Kathryn Webb had 66 assists; Keelan Vice had 18 kills, seven aces, six blocks and four digs; Sydney Yancey had 19 kills and seven digs; Macey Herren had 14 kills, six digs and three aces; Rachel Wilson had 12 kills and five blocks; and Ella Knowlton had 12 kills and four blocks.

Southside High split a home tri-match on Sept. 17. The Lady Panthers defeated White Plains, 25-16, 22-25, 15-13 and lost to Madison Academy, 19-25, 16-25. For Southside, Kathryn Webb dished out 33 assists. Keelan Vice had 10 kills, followed by Ella Knowlton with seven. Ziniah Hardy had five digs, while Vice had 10 blocks.

Kathryn Webb finished with 35 assists, five digs, two aces and two blocks in Southside’s tri-match split on Sept. 15. The Lady Panthers beat Leeds, 25-15, 25-15 and lost to Oneonta, 26-24, 21-25, 11-15. Also for Southside, Keelan Vice had 14 kills, followed by Macey Herren with 12 and Ella Knowlton with eight. Hannah Rogers had 13 digs, while Herren had four aces.
