Lady Patriots win Wing and a Prayer 5K

West End runners finished first through fifth place to win the Wing and a Prayer 5K in the girls Class 1A-2A division on Saturday, Sept. 16 in Anniston.
Every member of the team set a career PR, led by race winner Paten Battles with a time of 20:14.26 out of 36 runners. Kaylee Tarpley finished runner-up at 22:37.46, Karlee Tarpley came in third at 22:53.12, Carolina Rainey placed fourth at 23:20.48 and Kennedi Nix finished fifth at 23:36.17.
Also helping West End was Toree Chaney in 11th place at 24:55.51, Jada Wright in 18th place at 27:02.04, Sadie Umphrey in 24th place at 29:18.60, Kyra Brusaw in 25th place at 30:29.38 and Tyree in 27th place at 31:19.15.
Four West End boys finished in the top 25 – Justin Smith (15th, 20:48.88), Jarrin Vaughn (19th, 21:23.58), Patrick Patterson (20th, 21:35.52) and Triston Chaney (21st, 21:48.71).
