Lady Pats finish third at super regionals, qualify for state

The West End High volleyball team finished third in the Class 2A North Super Regional Tournament last weekend in Huntsville.

The Lady Patriots will compete in the Elite Eight state tournament this Wednesday and Thursday (Oct. 31 – Nov. 1) in Birmingham. 

West End (31-23) opened the tournament with a 25-7, 25-14, 25-17 win over Woodland, followed by a 25-12, 24-26, 25-8, 25-12 quarterfinal victory over Ider.

The Lady Patriots then lost to Hatton, 28-26, 14-25, 15-25, 25-21, 15-9, in the semifinals before posting a 25-18, 25-18, 11-25, 25-23 win over Sand Rock in the consolation finals. 

West End meets Houston Academy on Oct. 31 in the Elite Eight opening round. If the Lady Patriots win, they advance to the semifinals later that day.

The Class 2A state championship match is scheduled for Nov. 1 at 1:30 p.m.
